Interdependence Day- Religious Organizations
Religious leaders on the I Day Planning Committee offer opportunities to celebrate I Day by reaching out to the many spiritual leaders in the area to encourage them to promote I Day themes in their services during September 2008. The I Day Planning Committee is considering sponsoring an Interfaith Forum to generate and exchange ideas to promote a greater awareness of the various religions in the area with the underlying theme of promoting the principles of I Day.

Speakers Bureau
Civic groups and other organizations, whose I Day event features a guest speaker, can contact the I Day Speakers Bureau which is comprised of members of the I Day Planning Committee who have experience and expertise to share about I Day.

Lackawanna County Library System
The Lackawanna County Library System will promote Interdependence at each of its branches during the month of September. The libraries will display books with an Interdependence Day theme and provide a bibliography of books that offer resources about Interdependence Day.
Secondary Education
Members of the I Day Planning Committee have several projects slated for secondary education students.

The Hexagon Project
This project is described on this website offers opportunities for high school students to display their creativity to celebrate I Day by using the shape of a hexagon. The Hexagon project has been promoted nationwide to solicit participation.

High School Assembly or Classroom Event
A letter and a DVD with an I Day theme were sent to local high schools to encourage them to sponsor an assembly or other classroom experience that promotes the themes of I Day. The high schools are urged to hold an event at the start of the September school year and report back to the I Day Committee.

Tool Kit for I Day
The I Day Planning Committee is working with two local teachers to assemble a “tool kit” which provides materials for teachers to use to promote or sponsor an I Day event or theme in the classroom. The tool kit can be used to provide teachers with an activity for an in-service day to expand the teachers’ knowledge of the I Day resources.

Higher Education
Members of the I Day Planning Committee are contacting local colleges and universities to encourage them to celebrate I Day by sponsoring an event that promotes the I Day themes. The colleges and universities can use whatever theme they choose for an I Day theme. In past years the events have included workshops, panel discussions, lectures and films for the students and general public to celebrate I Day.

A complete listing of the events is found under the “events “section of this website.
